Requirements corresponding to the VG 11 Additional Testing Procedure “Retractable Type Fall Arresters for horizontal use over a sharp edge”
IKAR Retractable Type Fall Arresters fulfil this standard!
All IKAR retractable type fall arresters are tested in accordance with the optional additional VG 11 ‘edge test’ requirement. IKAR’s unique webbing used in the self-retractable lanyards is just 2.5mm thick, 30mm wide, with a breaking load of 34kN, a high-tech product developed by the IKAR engineers. The webbing IKAR use has a Dyneema core – giving one of the highest performances of this type of fibre in this application.
In addition to IKAR’s unique webbing used in their retractable type fall arresters, IKAR have worked together with the manufacturer of the steel cable used as lifelines in their devices to develop a test procedure to ensure the best performance of the steel cable lifelines used in IKAR retractable type fall arresters. Both IKAR’s webbing and steel cable lifelines used in the retractable type fall arresters, ensures the safety of the user during a fall over a sharp edge (r=0.5mm), for example a smooth steel edge or a rough concrete edge.
